The Continuum of Care (CoC) Program is designed to promote community-wide commitment to the goal of:
- Ending homelessness;
- Providing funding for efforts by nonprofit providers,and State and local governments to quickly rehouse homeless individuals and families while minimizing the trauma and dislocation caused to homeless individuals, families, and communities by homelessness;
- Promoting access to and effect utilization of mainstream programs by homeless individuals and families;
- Optimizing self-sufficiency among individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO)
Each year the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) releases a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) which outlines the requirements and deadlines of the Continuum of Care Program competition.
How do I get funding?
NOFO was announced by HUD
The NOFO “dropped” on August 18, 2021. This starts the clock on application deadlines.
Let us know your intent to participate
Wake CoC agencies that are interested in applying for new and renewal projects in the 2021 CoC competition are asked to fill out the Intent to Apply form. It is mandatory that all agencies wanting to apply for CoC funding complete an Intent to Apply this year.
Attend an Applicant Information Session
It is mandatory the person(s) completing your CoC Competition Project Application attend the FY21 CoC Competition Info Session on September 1, 2021 from 12:00-1:00 P.M.

Step 4: Review the Project Thresholds

Project Applications are Reviewed by Wake COC
Once the applications have been submitted, the Wake COC will review the applications.
Wake COC Funding Review Committee Interviews Applicants
Each applicant for a new or renewal project will be interviewed by the Wake COC Funding Review Committee.
Wake COC Board meets to approve Funding Review Committee Recommendations
The Wake COC Funding Review Committee will present its recommendations. to the Wake COC Board
Applicants will be notified of Board decisions, Appeals process begins
Applicants will be notified of the Wake COC Board Decision. If a project was not approved, the Applicant may appeal the decision.
Applicant Appeals must be completed and submitted
Funding Review Committee meets to review Appeals
Wake COC Board meets to review Appeals and Finalize Applicants
Board approves changes, if any & new priority list posted to the CoC website .
